The Greenwich Union became Meantime Brewing Company's first tied public house in November 2001.

Selling no national brewers' products at all, it rapidly earned a reputation for great beers, served with enthtusiasm, in relexed and welcoming surroundings.

In 2003 it was the only pub to be shortlisted for the Time Out, Evening Standard and the Class magazine Pub of the Year awards.

In 2004 it was voted readers' pub of the year by the fancyapint website.

Press Reviews of the Union

"The Union serves a a range of excellent beers from a Bavarian wheat beer to a Vienna style lager, all brewed and looked after with loving care."
The Publican

"Excellent service matched by the enthusiasm of the staff for their wares."
Fancyapint.com

"Alastair Hook, who learned his age-old trade in Munich, has made a wonderful success of this bar since it opened in 2001.Seven house draught beers are proudly named in block capitals over the small rectangle of bar counter, each with its own fresh, tangy flavour. But it’s not just that – there’s a relaxed, enjoyable, unsnobby atmosphere throughout."
